Follow the star
Metallic screen prints and collages

“Follow the Star” is a contemporary reinterpretation of a millennial symbol: the Magi.
The work stems from the artist’s intuition: the Magi do not reach the grotto and the divine through religion, but thanks to science. These enigmatic figures—magicians, scholars, kings from the East—reach Bethlehem by following the stars, reading the sky, and interpreting the message of the comet.

But who are the Magi today? Astronauts. Like the ancient travelers, they too scan the universe to answer humanity's great questions: Where do we come from? Are we alone? Where are we going? Their journey, both symbolic and real, is a search for truth.

In this vision, astronauts, riding camels, move under an extraordinary celestial vault: an accurate reproduction of the sky visible from Bethlehem on the night of December 25 in the year -1. Created using scientific software, the star map shows exactly the stars that illuminated the grotto on that night.

The work consists of 9 unique collages, in an edition of 10 pieces and 4 artist proofs for each subject. Made through a mix of screen printing, metal leaf, and cut-and-pasted prints, these works explore a technique that combines artisanal precision with pictorial depth. Each piece is unique, with variations that enhance the visual and narrative intensity of this modern “cosmic epiphany.”
